Sir Socks doesn’t
like dogs.
It might be okay
if they’re nice to him,
but he still wouldn’t
want to have much to do with them.
Still, there are those
Chihuahuas.
Those little dogs
who, when they bark,
jump backwards.
All bark and no bite.
If Sir Socks were to
met one,
I’m sure he’ll think
“You’re a dog?”
If the dog were
to annoy Sir Socks,
he would raise
his right forepaw
and smack the little dog.
As you can see, our financial report for our first month isn’t so great. We had just enough to pay for the webhosting from WordPress and to pay the staff a little bit. We had a gofundme account which has yielded two out of the three donations. The third one came directly via PayPal. We did have an online auction at 32auctions.com which yielded nothing at all.
We do have an option to sell ad space, but we need at least 100,000 views per month. This month we’ve had less than 300 views. So, we need to increase the traffic to the site to activate this financial option.
I realize this is just the first month, so perhaps the donations are low due to being unknown and untried. We’ll see how it goes next month to see if our donations increase enough to pay the staff, contributors, and featured monthly charities.
And hopefully, the traffic to the site will increase well as we post more content.
I got up the next morning
and saw Socks
half sitting,
half standing
on the porch.
I opened the door
to let him in.
He said, “Meow, meow, meow, meow.”
I said, “Oh, did you come home last night
and I didn’t open the door for you?” I was asleep
and the window was closed.
I never heard him,
but he was quite upset with me.
Later that night,
I woke up feeling
two pressures on me.
One was against the top of my head—
it was the kitten
cuddling up to the hairiest
part of my body
as he would if he was
still with his biological mother.
The other pressure
was on my right arm.
I opened my eyes
and there was Socks
staring at me.
I went back to sleep.
You are my first cat;
Nothing can change that fact.
I didn’t know much of cats
before you.
I gave you lots of love and attention—
like you wanted and asked.
I gave you good food
to keep you strong and healthy.
I gave you a little cat companion
to keep you company while I’m away.
I’m sorry if the kitten drove you crazy—
you were with him for a whole month.
I let you out because you wanted to go.
Now, I haven’t seen you and
I miss you terribly.
I wish you would come back home.
I miss your quietness.
I miss you watching me.
I miss you cuddling up to me,
lying on my stomach.
I miss your jumping on my furniture.
I miss you clawing my couch.
I miss you twitching your whiskers.
I miss you eating your food.
I miss watching you bath yourself.
I miss your yellow eyes, your mostly black hair.
Socki, I want to see you again.
I miss your meows.
I’m sure you can take care of yourself.
You were once an indoor/outdoor cat.
You could come and go as you pleased.
I wouldn’t mind setting that kind of arrangement
up for you.
I don’t know where you are, but
please come back to me.
The kitten misses you, too.
I’ll leave some catnip for you.
I hope you’re alright.
I hope you’re exploring the neighborhood.
I hope you’re enjoying your solitude—
You did need it after raising a kitten.
I hope you’re eating.
Please come home, Socki, I miss you.
My life is not the same without you.
When will you come back?
The auction is live and we now are offering three ebooks and one printed book. The printed book is The Gourmet Paper Maker by Ellaraine Lockie. To buy this printed book or any of the ebooks, you must open an account with 32auctions.com.
Enjoy the auction and watch this online magazine as we get ready for the launch of its first issue in January 2019…
We are having an online auction/fundraiser for a week. We need to get funding to pay the staff, contributors, and featured monthly charities for one year. We just have three ebooks for sale. Please consider supporting our cause as we get ready for the magazine’s launch in January 2019.
Auction starts October 23, 2018 at noon Eastern Daylight time.
Auction ends October 31, 2018 at 1 p.m. Eastern Daylight time.
We have a gofundme account to accept donations to get this magazine going. We had enough donations so far to get this site up and running, but we need more to pay the staff and contributors. We will also need more to pay the featured monthly cat charities.
We are looking for individuals and company donors to keep this site running. If you are an individual, we can list your name or leave you as anonymous on our Donor page. If you are a company, we will list you with your website on our Donor Page and list you in our monthly financial report every month you donate to us.
Please consider helping us to bring entertaining stories about cats written by cats and tips on care, while helping out cats all around in the world in need.
I know I was claimed by cats early on. According to the Chinese calendar I was born in the year of the tiger. When my biological mother was pregnant with me, she used to have vivid dreams that she was trapped in a cage with tigers clawing at her stomach.
I don’t recalling living with any cats when I was younger. I was told we had one when I was 5 years old. I don’t remember him at all. Perhaps he wasn’t around long enough. The story goes the babysitter let the cat out and he never came back. Perhaps we weren’t kind enough to him?
I do remember interacting with other cats as a child. I wasn’t always nice to them. They let me know real fast that they weren’t tolerating my bad behavior and bad treatment of them. So, I learned early to respect them.
Now I know they have claimed me without any doubts. I cannot live without one. I tried it for a few months and it was awful. I won’t do it again. Ever.
So, running this website, mainly in the background, is a way for me to give back to cats who have claimed me while I was still in the womb.
Currently there is only one cat tales book. Cat Tales of the Frisky9 Scarf Army, which features the cats who have received Frisky9 scarves and the humans who knit the scarves. The royalties from the book goes to Dingo Venezia, located in Venice, Italy.
However, I’m looking to do more of these cat tales books, but I will need a cat charity to receive the royalties and a group of cats to share their stories.
When more books are released, they will be promoted on this site. I will also write up articles once a month stating how many copies and how much money each book has raised.
With this website, we will feature a monthly cat charity. I or a representative from the charity itself, will tell where they are located, what they do, and how they help out cats. There will be pictures and bios of cats who are waiting to be adopted.
I leave it open as to who does the reporting throughout the month. By the time the month is over, the charity will get the leftover donations to the site. It’s that simple. And that easy every month.
