Adult cats age about four years to every one year for humans.

“A cat is there when you call her—if she doesn’t have something better to do.” —Bill Adler
Sure, we can call cats to us when we want them, but if they are busy, then they won’t show up. It’s just the way it is. It’s better to wait until they come to you and then it’s wonderful. Cats are just that independent.
“Since each of us is blessed with only one life, why not live it with a cat?” —Robert Stearns
I can certainly agree. After living with cats for quite a long time, I can’t stand to live without one. I am heartbroken when they die, but I let them go and go search for another cat to keep me company. Usually one comes along.

Strings for musical instruments thought to be made from cat intestines, but was usually from sheep, goats, cattle, hogs, horses, mules or donkeys.

“Dogs eat. Cats dine.” —Ann Taylor
Dogs are all too famous for wolfing their food as fast as they can. Cats, on the other paw, tend to take their time and clean themselves afterwards. Cats have manners and know how to use them.
“…You are my cat and I am your human.” —Hilaire Belloc
I feel this way with any cat I live with. I know they have claimed me and I tell them that I feel the same way. I know I don’t own them and that’s just fine with the both of us. It’s quite the arrangement which suits us all.

A precursor to a cat having kittens.

“If cats could talk, they wouldn’t.” —Nan Porter
Many cats don’t talk if they don’t have to. But some feel the need to tell their humans as much as they can until their humans understand. Sometimes their humans talk to them. I know I talk to my cats and I don’t expect them to answer me.
“Every life should have nine cats.” —Anonymous
Perhaps this goes too far. Some humans just shouldn’t live with cats for various reasons. I do love cats and love to live with at least one. They enrich my life with their presence. I have become a better person because of cats. I’m sure they know that.

A male cat who isn’t fixed.

“Our perfect companions never have fewer than four feet.” —Colette
Cats are perfect companions. They purr. They cuddle. They talk the right amount. And best of all, they accept us exactly the way we are and love us unconditionally. They are easy to love unconditionally and accept them as they are.
“The ideal of calm exists in a sitting cat.” —Jules Reynard
Sitting cats are quite calm. They are so calm that they must know the secret to true meditation, which some humans have yet to fully understand or even try. I do try to learn from cats so I can do true meditation without all the silly inane rules.

A female cat who is fixed.

“If you want to know the character of a man, find out what his cat thinks of him.” —Anonymous
Cats do form opinions of the humans they live with. Whether good or bad depends upon how we treat them. I’d recommend kindness to the cats or else they might not form a good opinion of you. But you have to mean the kindness or else the cats will know you to be a liar.
“The smallest feline is a masterpiece.” —Leonardo Da Vinci
Cats are majestic and elegant in ways I don’t know if I can achieve by myself. So, graceful in every movement. From jumping to running around crazily. Cats know what it means to be a living work of art.
