“The really great thing about cats is their endless variety. One can pick a cat to fit almost any kind of decor, color, scheme, income, personality, mood. But under the fur, whatever color it may be, there still lies, essentially unchanged, one of the world’s free souls.” — Eric Gurney
Cats are free souls. They know they are free even when they live with humans. They ask for a safe home with plenty of food and love. In return, they give us attention and feedback when we don’t do a good job serving them. How they express such things is one of the many ways they can differ among themselves.
“His mind is like a steel trap — full of mice.” — Foghorn Leghorn
Cats can be hunters when they need to eat and there isn’t any food. When they have food on a regular basis, they may still kill small animals. It’s in their nature. It’s one of the reasons humans and cats teamed up long ago. The cats killed the mice which could carry diseases which affect humans. Cats still may do so and I know I’ve never had to worry about mice or other pests while living with cats.
