Meow/Miaou

Whenever cats talk, most humans hear meow or miaou. Or perhaps even spelled a different way from either of those. It’s hard to say if the cat is reciting one of their latest poems or an article for a magazine, or just hi, but one thing is clear. Cats do talk to their humans. Cats do have things to say. Not necessarily all the time. Sometimes they ask us questions or confirm what they think we are saying to them. Make no mistake meow or miaou means a lot coming from a cat even if humans don’t always know what it means.

If animals could speak the dog would be a a blundering outspoken fellow, but the cat would have the rare grace of never saying a word too much. —Mark Twain

I’ve known a lot of cats in my life and I can say they don’t usually talk unless they have something to say. I’ve had more talkative cats that bordered on too much, but then they would stop and there would be peace and quiet. I do like how quiet cats are.

Dogs I have noticed don’t alway stop talking and take it too far.

The smallest feline is a masterpiece. —Leonardo da Vinci

Of course every feline even the smallest one is a masterpiece. They are graceful and have that hard to identify quality which many humans tend to lack. It’s one of the many reasons cats make wonderful little companions.

Cats do not have to be shown how to have a good time, for they are unfailing ingenious in that respect. —James Mason

Cats have a grand old time in my presence. They’ve given me some great pointers on how to have a good time with them. They never seemed to mind when I was watching them. I know they watch me too. All the wrestling Sir Socks and Spot have done in front of me was amazing to watch.

Meow is like aloha — it can mean anything. —Hank Ketchum

Of course meow means a lot of different things. Cats tend to use one syllable over and over again until we understand them. They know we can’t completely understand whatever they say, but that never stops them from talking to us when they need to.

Meow

When we cats talk, all you humans hear is meow. But we do use actual words. I myself have learned lots of English over the years living among humans. I have tried to speak English, but sadly my vocal apparatus won’t let me form the sounds correctly.

So, I’ve learned to adapt my cat language so that humans would understand me. Too many have complained that I’m loud and whiny. I’m just assertive. I am particular as to how I like to be care for. It seems to me that too many humans are too distracted or just simply don’t care enough to even listen and try.

That is until I met my girl. She is the best caregiver and caretaker I could ever ask for. She listens to my complains and requests and does something about them all. She’s learned and become so good at taking care of me that I don’t need to talk as much as I used to.

She just knows what to do now. I’ve very lucky. I’ve known many humans in my time and she’s the best one for me in spite of how silly she gets at times. *Sigh.* I do love her dearly in spite of her silliness.
