“Any cat who misses a mouse pretends it was aiming for the dead leaf.” —Charlotte Gray
Cats don’t like to miss. They prefer to play with their prey and never want anyone see them miss or get klutzy for one moment. It’s just the way they are.
French novelist Colette was a firm cat-lover. When she was in the U.S. she saw a cat sitting in the street. She went over to talk to it and the two of them mewed at each other for a friendly minute. Colette turned to her companion and exclaimed, “Enfin! Quelqu’un qui parle français!” (At last! Someone who speaks French!) —Anonymous
I do write novels and I can be quite silly with cats. Especially when talking to them. Cats speak their own language and yet they tend to understand human languages as well. It’s comforting when in a place where the human language is different, cats are still using the same language.
