It is much easier to teach kittens to use a litter box than it is adult cats. It does help they instinctively want to bury their wastes somewhere. So, when an adult cat knows how to use a litter box, they can easily teach a kitten to. Whether directly or indirectly, the kitten will learn. It just may be the kitten just watches and imitates.
